A day of movement and body-informed practices
exploring mutual support, resiliency and change
Sharing the Weight
Old Main Building || 321 E Decker St
8:30-9:30 || Contemplative Movement Practice
with Sav Haug and Mandy Herrick
Contemplative Movement Practice is inspired by Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP) and is a structured meditation through movement. Participants begin in a circle then move in silence letting go of self-judgments and encouraging awareness of the senses, space and the body.
10-10:45 || Creative Movement, ages 4-7 with Mandy Herrick
Through songs, verses, movement and music, Creative Movement facilitates brain/body learning of dance concepts and developmental movement.
11-1 || Contact Improvisation + Jam with Will Young
Underdancer/Overdancer
When we dance Contact Improvisation, the lines between leader and follower, giver and receiver, supporter and supported, tend to become blurred or disappear entirely. How can we support while being supported, and vice versa? This workshop will invite a deep exploration of weight sharing through development of physical technique and interpersonal attunement.
CI is dance form fostering weight-sharing, counterbalance and alignment with gravity all while staying in contact with one or more people. CI therefore invites us into the unknown, finding traction in disorientation. All bodies welcome! Come for just the workshop or stay for the jam.
3-4 || Move to Create Lab for youth/adults with Mandy Herrick
Based in the Creative Dance approach, this workshop will explore dance concepts as we work together in small groups to create, choreograph and compose movement together.
Moonlighter Lab || 211 S Main St
5-6 || Kids Dance Party with miasama ($10 donation)
6-7 || Dance Party warm-up with Sav Haug
7-9 || Adult Dance Party with Titmouse ($10-20 sliding)
Proceeds go to mutual aid efforts in Viroqua + Minneapolis
Mandy Herrick

Sav Haug
Sav is a dancer, somatics practitioner and raucous laugher rooted in the Driftless. One of their favorite things is creating spaces for people to feel free, connected and joyful in their movement. In their free time, you can find them getting down on the dance floor, leading mindful movement classes and eating cheese.
Titmouse
Titmouse is a longtime co- host of Booty Tunes for the Dairy Air on WDRT, as well as a vinyl DJ. Their playfully curated, ecelectic track selection spans genres and invites new definitions of "dance music".
